Member Referrals and What Success Means to You

This was a pretty good week. So changes are on Monday and even though they are not finished I know I am going to be companions with an Elder called Elder Miller. He is from Idaho and is super dope. He is the financial secretary and a super funny guy. I am excited to work with him.

Today we played more basketball and went to the middle of the world. If you don't know what that is, it is the equator line which surprisingly runs through Ecuador. Super fun as always. I love playing basketball too.

This week was hype because we got a bunch of member referrals. Member referrals are the best especially in this part of the mission because they almost all progress. For example, Jesus and Carlos, the two people I baptized here, were referrals from members.

So a little funny story. So Dad has been sending me some things about humility which I have really liked and one was the language of humility. What I loved was that it showed that there are unequal relationships and equal relationships, and that when we have an equal relationship we need to speak on equal terms. Well, Sunday School we had a trainwreck of a lesson which showed why making demands does not work in an equal relationship. So a member of the Sunday School stake presidency came in and taught the lesson and rather than teaching a lesson, he tried to implement new rules for Sunday School that were not necessary. Everyone wanted to learn about the New Testament but instead they got a lecture about not being on Facebook during the class. He came off as a teacher who was laying down the law. And the members of the ward were not taking it. It got really awkward. But it helped me see that I was not teaching in a prideful way because I saw what it means to teach in a prideful way.

My President this week told me in my interview that I needed to figure out what success meant to me. So I still do not know what success means to me but I was wondering if anyone wanted to share with me their ideas on success.

Loving Life. The mission is the best,

Elder Tucker
