Padball, Quito Founder's Day, and the Perez Family

Today for P-day we played Padball,
which is sort of like soccer and tennis where you use your feet and hit the
ball over the net but you can also use the wall. It was super fun, but now I’m
exhausted. December 6th is Quito’s Founder’s Day festival, so there have been lots
and lots of parties going on. Who are the parties going on we're not supposed
to be out on the streets after 6, so we have been hanging out with the other
missionaries from the office. It has been really fun. We have been playing a
lot of Uno, so maybe when we video chat later this month we should just play
Uno. I’m making plans with some of the office missionaries to form a rap group
like the groups we see around Quito. My consecration level in the office might
be a little lower--just kidding.
We have a wonderful family that we’ve
been teaching, and they have accepted a baptismal date. Oh, and I’m afraid that
my English is getting worse. We speak terrible English in the office. The other
day, one missionary said that some members were “Invested” instead of saying
that they had taken out their “Endowments.” We all understood him, but it made
us laugh.
The office is different from what I’ve
experienced previously as a missionary. Sometimes it is boring. It feels like I
have a desk job, sitting in front of a computer, but I get to go out and work
in my area. I also get to know President Barlow, which is great.
My birthday is in a couple of days,
but I don’t have any money, so it should be interesting.
We are also excited about working with
the Perez family. I get nervous because they are so important to us. The
parents are married and both are lawyers. The go the States from time-to-time
as well.
I heard that y’all might get snow.
Hopefully the power won’t go out, since then Gavin won’t be able to play video
games. That was always the best part of snow days.
I’m also using my Excel skills, trying
to figure out how to do things faster.
Love y’all and always pray for you.
Look forward to talking with you!
Love,
Elder Tucker
