First Week in the Office, Elder Abila, and Whipping Brad at the Bond Game

We have also been playing a lot of ping-pong recently,
since we have a ping-pong table downstairs. We are getting really good. When I
get home, you guys are going to have to look out oh, because you know we all
get really competitive. We also play a lot of Uno as an office. I'll have to
teach the office how to play Uno the Tucker way. We are also trying really hard
to get ripped. We eat at restaurants all the time, so I'm trying to gain
weight. I'm also really trying to improve my Spanish.
This was a great week for the work as well. We have two
awesome families. One of the families is Venezuelan and they said that they are
coming to church tomorrow, so we are really excited about that.
Yesterday I ate two huge Encebollados, but they're not as
good here in Quito, so when you guys come we're going to have to go eat them in
other places.
As far as the office goes, it's really fun, but we still
get to work really hard in our area. Everyone in the office gets along really
well, and we are all really tight. We joke around a lot and there's actually
not all that much work. Sometimes the office gets a little crazy, and it feels
like I’m already in college. Usually, as missionaries, you are just with your
companion, so when there are more missionaries together it get sort of crazy.
And since I'm still mad at the assistance for bringing me here, I do everything
I can to try to undermine their Authority. So we call them the “helpers.”
An elder Abila has become my best friend. We get along
really well and have a lot of fun doing the work. I’m learning a lot from him.
He is Filipino and American and all-parts Brazilian, since everyone says he has
a Brazilian accent. It also means that for both of my Christmases I’m with half
Filipinos. We are also really excited about Christmas, because the way Elder
Abila and I work is that we just go out and strike up conversations with random
people. We just walk up to them on the street and say hey and most people seem
interested in talking with foreigners. They ask what we are doing here, and that
leads to a good conversation. Sometimes they will let us into their home, and
we share a message. But now that it's Christmas, we can go around and say Merry
Christmas to people and start a conversation and then get a chance to share a
message with them. We are really excited about that!.
I pray for you guys every night since I know that there
are a lot of things going on and everyone's lives. I hope that you enjoy
Grandpa's memorial service in Utah.
Oh, one more thing, is Gavin going to do the nativity? I
hope he does because I always enjoy doing that. It is funny that Gavin fell
asleep at the Bradfords all-nighter. And they need to bring back that Bond video
game since I whipped Brad's tail at it. He probably stop playing it cuz he
knows I'm way better than him!
Love it here, and thanks for writing every week.
Love,
Elder Tucker
