Transfers, Great Training, and Faith Versus Charity--I'll Fight You on it!

In our mission slang we call transfers "changes."
So I am staying in Santo Domingo! Let`s go. I love the coast and did not want to leave. I am going to be receiving Elder Alanoca. He is Bolivian and has a lot of experience in the mission so it should be fun. I am going to be the district leader.
Elder Astuñaupa is going to Riobamba. They call is Friobamba which means cold because that is the coldest part of the mission. And he is receiving a great companion which makes me really happy.
So we had interviews this week with President. Wow that is one of my favorite parts of the mission. Elder Astuñaupa had his interview first and I was second. When I got in President Barlow told me that Elder Astuñaupa looks 100x happier and that I did a great job training. It was a special moment because I had not realized it but we had a great training. We really had a ton of fun and had success as well. President Barlow is the greatest.
We had Zone Conference this week and a big part was about humility. One thing I loved that President Barlow shared was that appreciating nature can make us more humble. I wanted to apply that in my life. So right after zone conference we had to go to Quito to do Elder Astuñaupa's visa. That 3 hour bus ride is the worst. You are just snaking through the mountains and I always feel like throwing up when I go. And usually it is super cloudy and we cannot see anything. But this trip was amazing because it was not cloudy and the view was spectacular. I was amazed by how beautiful the sunset is in Ecuador and how majestic the mountains are. Everyone needs to see these mountains in Ecuador.
It was cool being in Quito because it is cooler there and I was able to visit the places I went my first day.
Typically on P-days we go to the mall here and eat in the food court with other missionaries. This week was a highlight because we argued about if Faith or Charity was more important and if art or music was more important. I love playful arguments so much. Not gonna lie it was 5 missionaries arguing for Charity against me and Faith. And I took them to town. Afterwards we went to the supermaket and continued talking and having fun. It was a throwback to the days before the mission because often times with my friends we would just go to stores and walk around and have fun.
Being in Quito again made me realize how different the coast and the mountains are in Ecuador. The food and culture is very different. The coast is super laid back. Also I saw an iguana today (check photo).
I love the mission and I am a little nervous for the next change because I do not know how it will go. But I am happy right now and I am excited. Loving life and I am in paradise.
Love y'all,
Elder Tucker
