Banana Chips, Forgiveness of a Twentysomething, and the Drug Dealers Car Dealer(ship)
So I am trying to send more photos of food from Ecuador. So
here is a photo of an Encebollado. It is one of my favorite foods here.
Basically it is a fish soup. You put lemon in it and chifles. Chifles are the
best, they are basically banana chips. So like a potato chip but from a banana.
That is one of the cool things about Ecuador and especially the coast of
Ecuador. They have a ton of different foods. For example there are 7 types of
bananas here. But anywho the encebollado is delicious but the only problem is
they only serve it hot and only serve it until the evening. That means you just
sweat into your encebollado as you are eating it and when I get hungry at night
I cannot eat them. And they really only exist on the coast so when I leave
Santo Domingo I will miss them. Super delicious and super satisfying.
So what is up with the photo I sent? So on Sunday we went to
pass by two of our investigators and see how they were doing. Well the man had
been drinking a bit. So immediately when he saw us he dropped to his knees and
started praying for forgiveness. We told him it was okay and left. The other
missionaries who serve in our ward took the photo from their house because they
live really close to this family and happened to be inside when it happened.
The mission life.
This week was really good. The only hard part was it was
super cloudy this week. That means it was not super hot and the weather felt
perfect. But, when I woke up in the morning I felt exhausted every day. Even
when I did exercises I would be sleepy. That made it a little hard this week.
But luckily Elder Astuñaupa and I are doing great. We have
fun always and are getting along.
One more story. So there is this super cool car dealership
in Santo Domingo. It has a ton of nice cars. There is a Porsche, Corvette,
Lexus, Ford Raptors there and other nice cars. And last week it got taken down
by the police. They raided the place because apparently it was run by drug
lords. And they took all the cars away as well. So drugs are a problem
everywhere I guess.
Just want to apologize for my bad English and prose. Don't
let my English teachers read these. And the problem is that talking to other
Americans does not help because we all have lost our English. Today at the mall
we were trying to figure out how to say nosotros tampoco. We neither is how to
say I think. And I cannot remember a lot of words either. So excuse my bad
English.
Love y'all and excited for this week. Got the package and it
was perfect. I really want to drink cheerwine now. But seriously that package
was great. Love y'all
Elder Tucker
