Shifting Missionary Musical Tastes, Iguanas, and Carl's Junior
So the missionary life can be seen as a life of sacrifice.
We talk to our family twice a year, we can't watch movies, we rarely have free
time, we have to wear the same outfit each day, we study the same books every
day, we talk about the same things each day, we can't swim. I could go on and
on about what we can't do. It can be difficult sometimes keeping up with what
we can't do. But it is the best life ever. I sometimes laugh about how much joy
I get in seemingly small things.
So before the mission I had a couple of music artists that I
loved. I would listen to all their music and it is hard to describe the
excitement I felt when new music came out by them. That is normal, to be
excited when Kendrick Lamar or Drake has a new album come out. But last Monday
when my Dad sent me the EFY Anxiously Engaged Album and I was just as excited
or even more. Finally I can listen to the hit single Silver Linings. That was a
huge one on the radio right? My worldly side tells me how this music is not
that good but my missionary side just loves that music so much. So I love the
sacrifice of the mission because it makes some really sweet moments. Like
hearing EFY music.
So we saw some huge iguanas this week. Like huge iguanas in
our area. So Ecuador is not the US.
Took a picture eating Carl´s JR. I also got emotional eating
a fresh chicken nugget today because it tasted so good. I have been away from
CFA too long.
The question was posed to me if I would chose to live in
Ecuador after the mission. Not sure. I love everything here except for the sun.
Cloudy days are the best. The sun just burns so bad here and weigh on you. We
have started walking with umbrellas up just to protect us from the sun.
So last night President Barlow called us. He helped bring to
light what was difficult for Elder Astuñaupa. He is super sleep deprived
because he body still has not adjusted to the schedule. So we are going to go
to sleep earlier this week and I think it will fix a lot of the problems we are
having. I am very excited and love President Barlow so much.
Loving life right now and I am doing really well.
Elder Tucker
