Good Week (Yes, Struggles, but a nice sea breeze...)
Wow a lot this week.
So training is rough. They say happy wife, happy life. Not
sure if that one is true but in the mission it is definitely happy companion
happy life. So we had transfers this week and Elder Astuñaupa and I are staying
which was really exciting. Beginning a mission is so difficult because all
anyone wants is to go home. The food is different, the schedule is different,
being 24/7 with another missionary is different, and being away from the family
is different. It is just a difficult time. Elder Astuñaupa is not doing well
right now. He is not very happy so I am not either. I am not as stressed as I
was before but I am just concerned for him. I want to lift him but he won't
open up to me. So I am just praying really hard and trying to being a good
friend for him. Pray for us.
Other than that this week was pretty good. Something I love
is that right now there is definitely a sea breeze coming into Santo Domingo.
At least I think there is because it smells like salt here. And it is hot here
so I just feel like I am at the beach. Do I like the beach? No. But somehow I
am enjoying it here eating amazing seafood with a ton of rice. And showering at
night after a hot day is just a wonderful feeling.
We had zone conference and interviews with President Barlow.
He is just the greatest. We have been studying the sermon on the mount and
trying to live the higher law. Very interesting stuff. Y'all should read it.
Also we were taught how to win the hearts of the members so that we can work
better with them. So I have been saluting them (not sure what the word is, like
greeting them. Well in Spanish it is saluding. More or less) and smiling more.
It has been very effective and I feel a lot closer with the ward members.
We played soccer and Ecua-volley again today with other
missionaries. It was super fun. Sorry no photos this week. So I am doing okay
right now. We had some really good moments this week but we are not doing great
right now which stinks but I do not think it will last.
Love y'all
Elder Tucker
