Fantastic Week
Conference was so amazing this week. Maybe one of the most
noteworthy conferences of all time. Y'all already heard about it and listened
so I will just say wow. Some amazing talks that I will be studying with my
companion in the next couple of weeks.
Quick observation. So the sunscreen you sent me mom that is
over 100 spf costs $21 here. For a little 3 oz bottle.
We visited Quito this week and I enjoyed being back in the
city I started in. It is nice and cold there and the people dress more
modestly. But I do not miss the food in Quito. Probably my favorite food here
is seafood. It is so fresh and so delicious here. I had fried shrimp the other
day. It was so good it made me miss Ecuador. I get sad sometimes knowing that I
won't get food like this for the rest of my life. One of my favorite feelings
in the mission is getting a huge plate of food and feeling like there is no way
I can eat all of that and then eating all of that. I always walk out of the
house feeling victorious.
Today for P-day we rented bikes and rode them to some
rivers. So much fun and this is such a beautiful country with a pretty perfect
climate.
Elder Astuñaupa and I are doing really well. I love him so
much and his diligence and obedience amaze me. Training is difficult but the
most valuable things require the greatest price.
So one of my zone leaders is Elder Scott. He is awesome and
from some lame city called Escondido. I think it is by San Diego. He is so fun
and we had a blast watching conference in a private room in English. If anyone
out there has heard of Escondido or in English "hidden,"
I would love to know
where exactly you lived there.
Love y'all so much
Elder Tucker
You look more like Gramsps (when I was your age) all the time!
ReplyDeleteYour mother was born in Escondido. When my job took us to Hill Air Force base (your Uncle David was serving a mission in Costa Rica at the time), we left her in Escondido to graduate from Orange Glen High school so she could qualify for a scolarship at BYU her senior (last) year. Our family grew up in the Escondido 3rd ward. She had her own car and lived with an elderly lady and was given kitchen priviledges. She though she was just the "bees knees" all independent, grown up and all and she was!! We were, and stiil are--very proud of her and the great choices she has made in the Gospel. All you have to do is look at how your 2 older sisters set the example for you to serve a mission like you are doing now!

We lived at 2473 Holly Avenue, Escondido, California from 1968 to 1988.
ReplyDeleteI understand that there are some 145,000 residents in the city. The mayor of Escondido (Hispanic) made national news because he said that they had greatly reduced crime there and wanted to heed what President Trump has requested regarding illegals. We were just 20 miles east from Riverside (ocean) city. We really liked living there but the dynamics of the city has changed to mostly hispanic and many families living in the same house.
