Carnival!
So it is Carnival this week. Whew!!!
What the flip is Carnival you might ask. Well basically you like fight with people. There is this awesome foam spray that you spray on people to mess with them. People throw water balloons and eggs at each other. They throw dirt and flour at each other. And then they throw water at each other to "clean" them. It is just super wild and super fun. It gets crazy when they grab someone and throw them to the ground and everyone just does everything to them. Take their shoes off, throw water on them, and throw eggs at them. It feels like when you are at the beach and a wave takes you down and you just have no clue what is going on. Fun and crazy. I am definitely bringing it back to the US because it is a ton of fun. For a better description, see the attached videos.
So because of Carnival we cannot work today or tomorrow. So I will be spending time in the house reading, cooking, working out, and sleeping. It is gonna stink.
But this week was pretty up and down. Elder Goycochea and I have been having some struggles but we have resolved most of them. The worst is that a lot of great investigators are moving out of our area. Like a lot. We had this great Colombian family just move this Saturday and it just killed me. One of them literally just needs her interview and she will be baptized. It was really sad to see them leave.
But miracles still happen. On Saturday I was pretty discouraged when we heard the news of the Colombian family moving. But we were out knocking doors and this one guy let us in and we had just an amazing lesson. He was super cool and started crying at the end. Tears of Joy. He said we were exactly what he needed. It was so great and reminded me that even as people leave, there are more people close to us who need us and are praying for help.
Something else here is that the question of whether or not the US went to the moon is a topic of serious debate. I did not realize that serious people questioned that but hey, they might be on to something.
So yeah, having difficulties with you companion really sucks, that is what made this week a little difficult but I am learning from the experience and it has improved.
Elder Goychochea is from Lima, Peru. He is a lifelong member and went late on his mission because he did not want to be a missionary or have a testimony when he was younger. He has amazing foot skills in soccer and is really good. We teach well together and are starting to develop the inside jokes that every good companionship needs.
Side note: Most Latinos, as you would expect, are good at soccer and especially with their foot skills. But they do not run as much as people from the US. So we are basically even when we play soccer.
Love y'all and am excited for this week.
Elder Tucker
