4 Hamburgers, 3 Missionaries, 2 Transfers down, and a partridge in a pear tree
Another legendary week in the mission.
So I ate 4 hamburgers in one sitting. There is this sister in the ward
who is from Bolivia who invited us to eat lunch with the sister
missionaries and her. She cooks really well and asked if we wanted
pizza or hamburgers. The best two options in the world. Elder Pontón
wanted hamburgers so we went with hamburgers. Side note Elder Pontón
always finishes his food before me and I realized why. He has been
eating rice and meat his entire life so it is his home turf when it
comes eating fast. But hamburgers is my thing. The hamburgers were
delicious and she gave each of us two and I smashed those burgers,
beating everyone else. She then asked if we wanted more which was a
miracle because they were delicious. Elder Pontón ate one more and in
the same time I ate two more. And we both finished before the sisters
finished their two. Man was the walk back to the house after that
difficult. My stomach was huge but I felt amazing. A great memory.
I gotta tell y'all about Ecua-volley. So this week was a little rough
because Thursday and Friday were a holiday so the work was a little
slow. Everybody is out playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball and
it is hard to find people to teach. Watching the basketball here hurts
my soul. They do not understand what double dribble is and play with a
soccer mindset. It's just ugly. But Ecua-volley might be worse. It is
played 3 on 3 and the net is way higher. And the people practically
catch the ball and throw it. I kinda just want to try Ecua-volley just
to understand how popular it is. But if you love volleyball do not
look up Ecua-volley. It will just make you sad at how apostate the
world is.
So Elder Pontón is being transferred, he is going to be a zone leader
in Riobamba which is awesome. He is totally ready to be a zone leader.
I am going to be in a trio which is pretty uncommon. One of my
companions is from Arizona and my other companion is from Guayaquil. I
am super pumped but it is going to be weird teaching and contacting
with 3 missionaries. Apparently the elder from Arizona is ripped so I
am hoping I can learn the tips of the trade. I will send photos of my
progress if it happens. The elder from Guayaquil is going to be the
district leader as well and was companions with Elder Pontón earlier.
Apparently they did not get along very well but no biggie. I will talk
more about them next monday.
But my Dad is leaving, I am so sad. We started saying good-bye last
night and we both were tearing up. I do not know why I was I am going
to be in Guamaní for another 6 weeks but it was just sad. Elder Pontón
is the greatest and we had a ton of fun. But I hear trios are always a
party so I am excited.
Love y'all
Elder Tucker
Question: Where do you usually eat breakfast and what do you eat? What about lunch? What about dinner?
We eat breakfast in the house. Typically scrambled eggs which I have
gotten a bit tired of but it is cool, it is food. Lunch we have with a
member every day. We eat with a member the same day each week. Also
lunch is the only big meal here so we always get fed a lot. Dinner is
either we get a bit of food at a lesson or eat at the house after 9.
Typically chicken nuggets. But whenever I get hungry we visit a bakery
and buy some fresh bread, it is the best.
What is your Sabbath day usually like?
Sunday we wake up, go to church, attend ward council, go eat with a
member, go home and change out of our suits and do a bit of studying
if we have time, and go to work. Typically we visit members on Sunday
because everyone else is playing soccer or Ecua-volley (a different
sport, remind me to talk about it next week). The members always feed
us so on Sundays we eat like kings, they are the best.
What is your P day usually like?
P day we wake up, take our laundry to Fam Pepinós to wash, either go
do a fun activity or buy groceries, cut our hair, eat, chill at the
house, walk to an Internet cafe close to Fam Pepinós at 4 and start to
write. Then we take our laundry back to the house and go to work. We
always have a family home evening at a recent converts house which is
the best. P-days are always perfect.
